Podcasting tips by Voice of America staff

The webinar began at 6:30 AM Fiji Time with four guests from the Voice of America, a non-commercial entity.


The beauty of podcast is that it is conversational, entertaining, engaging while ensuring that it's a valuable conversation, said Ms Karina Choudhury.


Video journalist, Ms Choudhury suggests that you build a template of how you want things to look. Make sure you know what shot you want for multiple cameras. Eg, clean hand held shot.


According to Digital Producer and Reporter, Mr Chetra Chap, podcasting is a powerful tool because it allows the listener to do other things while still listening to the podcast, requiring less energy compared to having to watch a movie which requires your full concentration.


Mr Steve Miller, Host and News Center Radio Managing Editor, highlighted the importance of pre-planning and fully backing up your own work. "Would you go back and listen to it?" the answer to this question can determine how how far you'll be able to attract your audience.


Decide on how frequent you plan to release your podcast to be set in stone as part of building your followers. A podcast could be 5 minute in length and be very effective, stated Sports Host, Mr Sonny Young.


What we view as podcast today may not be in the future were added by Mr Miller. The best way to engage an audience is to also show the thought process of how the guest speaker came to a particular conclusion shared Mr Chap.
